Who We Are
The One Health Youth Alliance Bangladesh (OHYAB) is an independent, non‑political, non‑governmental, non‑profit, and youth‑led organization within Bangladesh, dedicated to advancing the One Health approach among the youth of Bangladesh. We bring together students and early‑career professionals from diverse fields—human medicine, veterinary medicine, environmental science, public health, and beyond—to foster interdisciplinary collaboration, advocacy, and action.
Founded on 27 February 2027, OHYAB operates through a virtual headquarters currently that allows us to connect members from every corner of Bangladesh, leveraging digital platforms to build a truly national movement.
Our Vision
To create a healthier, more sustainable Bangladesh where future professionals work across disciplines to prevent and solve complex health issues.
We envision a future in which young leaders are equipped with the skills, knowledge, and leadership to seamlessly integrate human, animal, and environmental health—transforming Bangladesh into a model for One Health excellence.
Our Mission
To build a generation of skilled, ethical, and informed youth leaders who champion the One Health approach in academia, public policy, research, and grassroots implementation.
Through advocacy, capacity building, and cross‑sector collaboration, we address pressing challenges including:
Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR)
Zoonotic diseases
Food safety and security
Climate‑linked health threats
Our Core Values
Integrity & Honesty – We act transparently and accountably in all interactions.
Respect & Inclusion – We foster a supportive environment free from discrimination, where diverse perspectives are valued.
Collaboration – We believe that complex health challenges require interdisciplinary teamwork.
Youth Leadership – We empower young people to take the lead in shaping policies and solutions.
Professionalism – We maintain high ethical standards in communication, conduct, and execution.
How We Operate
We operate through four key structures. General Members form the foundation of our organization—students and early-career professionals who participate in activities and, as Active Members, have the right to vote and stand for election. The Executive Board serves as the supreme decision-making and executive body, responsible for strategic direction, operations, and financial oversight. The Advisory Board consists of senior experts who provide strategic guidance, mentorship, and networks without being involved in day-to-day management. For specific events, we form temporary Organizational Committees that manage on-the-ground logistics in partnership with local institutions and dissolve after the event concludes.

What We Do
Capacity Building & Training
We equip youth with interdisciplinary skills through workshops, mentorship programs, and professional development sessions. Topics include One Health fundamentals, antimicrobial resistance, zoonotic disease prevention, policy advocacy, and project management.
National Symposium & Events
Our flagship event, the National One Health Youth Symposium, brings together students, professionals, and policy makers from across the country to share research, network, and collaborate on solutions. Smaller symposia, seminars, and campaigns are organized throughout the year.
Advocacy & Policy Engagement
We advocate for the integration of One Health principles into national policies and curricula. Through position papers, policy dialogues, and public campaigns, we raise awareness about issues such as AMR, food safety, and climate‑sensitive health risks.
Research & Innovation
We encourage youth‑led research that bridges disciplines. By connecting students with mentors and providing platforms to present their work, we foster evidence‑based solutions to complex health challenges.
Community Outreach
Through local initiatives and partnerships with educational institutions, we take One Health messages to the grassroots, empowering communities to adopt practices that safeguard human, animal, and environmental health.
Our Commitment to Integrity
Every member of OHYAB is bound by a Code of Conduct that emphasizes respect, professionalism, and confidentiality. We have a clear Conflict Resolution and Disciplinary Action framework to address any issues fairly and transparently. All financial activities are subject to an annual independent audit, ensuring accountability to our members and stakeholders.
