OHYAB Shares White Paper on Youth Leadership and Innovation-Driven Strategies for Rabies Elimination by 2030
24 May 2026
One Health Youth Alliance Bangladesh (OHYAB) is sharing the white paper titled “Reimagining Rabies Elimination: Youth Leadership and Innovation-Driven Strategies to Accelerate Zero by 2030” for wider knowledge dissemination and stakeholder awareness. The paper, authored by Ibrahim Khalil, Nafis Jawad, and Abu Sayed, presents a forward-looking discussion on how youth leadership, One Health collaboration, and emerging technologies can support the global goal of eliminating dog-mediated human rabies deaths by 2030.
The white paper identifies major barriers to rabies elimination, including limited vaccine access, weak surveillance systems, financing gaps, inadequate public awareness, logistical challenges, and insufficient cross-sectoral coordination. It also highlights practical and scalable recommendations such as rabies education in schools, youth-led community surveillance, stronger mass dog vaccination support, AI-based vaccine demand forecasting, blockchain-enabled vaccine tracking, drone-assisted cold-chain delivery, incentive-based community vaccination, and rapid local diagnostic capacity.
Through this dissemination, OHYAB aims to encourage discussion, awareness, and collaborative action among public health professionals, veterinarians, educators, students, policymakers, youth networks, and One Health stakeholders. Rabies is a preventable disease, yet it continues to affect vulnerable communities. Accelerating elimination efforts requires shared responsibility, coordinated implementation, and active engagement from all sectors.
OHYAB encourages relevant stakeholders to read and share the white paper and reflect on its recommendations for strengthening rabies prevention, youth engagement, and One Health action in Bangladesh and beyond.
The authors welcome constructive feedback, scholarly comments, and practical suggestions from readers and stakeholders. Where appropriate, future versions of the white paper may incorporate such input, with revisions documented transparently.
